Featured Recipe: Healthy Holiday Margarita from Uplift

Healthy Holiday Margarita

The thing with drinking around the holidays is that there is, er, a lot of it! So instead of abstaining completely, the best thing to do is lower your overall beverage calorie intake by drinking low-cal, all-natural (and totally delicious!) cocktails with "whole food" ingredients. In other words, you can make healthier versions of old favorites!

Helena Wolin, Katie Currie & Leanne Shear of Uplift

Known for their wildly popular "Raise the Bar" series - including "Workout & Wine", "Bootcamp & Brunch" and "Cardio & Cocktails" classes - and experts at mixing fitness with pleasure, we've called upon the ladies of Uplift fitness studio in NYC for this healthy (and oh-so-simple!) holiday margarita recipe.

1-2 ounces (white/silver) tequila
The juice of one fresh lime
Dollop of agave nectar or honey

Combine the ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake. Strain onto fresh ice in a rocks or collins glass. Add a splash of club soda. For a holiday twist, so to speak, drop in a small handful of fresh cranberries and/or a sprig of evergreen (if that's not available, just substitute a sprig of fresh rosemary, which lends an added bit of delicious flavor!)

Ready to Raise the Bar? Check out a class at Uplift...and if you're lucky you may just be able to enjoy a healthy holiday margarita or other fun cocktail after your workout!
