Know before you go

  • Group classes with only one participant will be shortened to 45 minutes
  • No bare feet please. Socks are required.
  • No use of cell phones. Please turn off the cell phones before entering the studio
  • People who have never done Pilates Reformer class before, are NOT allowed to attend the intermediate or advanced classes. Qualifications for these classes are done by the teachers individually and students with injuries will not be permitted.
  • Pilates By Sylvia reserves the right to substitute instructors if necessary
  • New students must arrive early to sign a waiver.
  • No pregnant people in classes; private sessions are recommended.
  • No gum chewing and please refrain from wearing heavy perfumes, colognes, and other scents.


Sylvia’s intense, no-nonsense regimen continuously challenges clients while focusing on proper form and alignment. With widely varied exercises rather than a set routine, she ensures that her classes remain interesting and her clients motivated and engaged.     Sylvia’s approach to teaching is based on modern Pilates. Unlike classical Pilates, which adheres closely to the methodologies Joseph Pilates devised in the early 20th century, the BASI school of Pilates builds on top of his teachings, leveraging contemporary research in physical therapy and biomechanics.
