Class Overview

URBAN SADHU FOUNDATIONAL VINYASA The Urban Sadhu Yoga Foundational Vinyasa program will work as a structured learning curriculum that will allow the new student to apply what was learned in Urban Sadhu Yoga Fundamentals in a vinyasa class style and build onto that knowledge. It was developed out of our observation that many students needed a transitional program from Urban Sadhu Fundamentals of Yoga that would prepare and give them the skills and confidence to explore Urban Sadhu Open Classes. We highly suggest that students attend a full month of the Urban Sadhu Fundamentals of Yoga curriculum before beginning Urban Sadhu Yoga Foundational Vinyasa program. The tools learned in this 4-week Urban Sadhu Fundamentals of Yoga course will be needed to incorporate into Urban Sadhu Yoga Foundational Vinyasa 4-week course. Week One:Foundational Vinyasa Focused on Standing Asanas1st through 7th day Through a vinyasa led class, begin to explore balance, connection, and dynamic movement while focusing on standing asanas. Week Two:Foundational Vinyasa Focused on Forward Bending8th through 14th day While connecting to breath and movement, explore releasing tightness and constriction in the back of the body. Week Three:Foundational Vinyasa Focused on Back Bending15th through 21st day While using the tools of breath, intention and mindful movement, you will open up the front of the body with confidence and compassion. Week Four:Foundational Vinyasa Focused on Inversions22nd through last day of the month Inversions (headstands, handstands, and forearm stands) are exciting asanas, but can create fear and anxiety in a new practitioner. In this class, overcome this fear by learning safely turn yourself upside down in a way that will allow you to see the world from a different point of view. We highly suggest that students attend a full month of the Urban Sadhu Fundamentals of Yoga curriculum before beginning the Urban Sadhu Foundational Vinyasa program as the tools learned in this 4-week course will be needed to incorporate into the more advanced course. The Urban Sadhu Foundational Vinyasa program is designed to advance your skill level from what you have already learned in the Urban Sadhu Fundamentals of Yoga course.

STUDIO OVERVIEW

Urban Sadhu Yoga™ is a method of applying ancient yogic wisdom in a contemporary context. The Urban Sadhu Yoga™ Method is a modern, integrated Yoga method that incorporates many unique aspects of a traditional Yoga sadhana (practice) for the contemporary urban spiritual seeker. The method draws from the ancient yogic wisdom of India – Raja Yoga, Tantra Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Nada Yoga, Jappa Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga – but does not exclude spiritual teachings from other cultures. Spiritual activism is a key component within the Urban Sadhu Method.
