Class Overview
Judo is a martial art and Olympic sport that originated in Japan in the late 19th century. It is a form of self-defense that emphasizes the use of throws, pins, and submission techniques. It also promotes physical fitness, balance, and coordination. Judo also stresses discipline and respect, as well as humility and self-control. All levels are welcome! Though Judo is traditionally practiced in the Gi (traditional uniform), its techniques can be modified to work without it so that the sport is more applicable to MMA and other grappling disciplines. Wai Kru offers both "No-Gi Judo" and traditional Judo with the Gi. Call ahead to see which is being offered if you are interested! Know before you go
- Please arrive 10 minutes early for your class
- For your first class, equipment will be provided. After your first class, you will need 16oz boxing gloves, shin guards, hand wraps, and a mouth guard for Muay Thai/Striking classes, and a Gi for BJJ Gi classes and general athletic clothing for their No-Gi courses.
- Bring a filled water bottle
- All equipment is available for purchase
- Upon arrival, please proceed downstairs and take your shoes off before entering the basement door
