Michelle Pretekin
Owner of Fit Girl Studio

About the Owner: Growing up as an exercise enthusiast, Michelle Pretekin tried any activity she could sink her muscles into, ultimately earning a BS in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University. While pursuing a career in medical sales, she served as an instructor at Chicago area gyms until opening Fit Girl Studio which houses all of the specialized elements she envisioned under one roof – a mecca for barre, spin, and yoga; and most importantly, an infectious culture. Transforming workouts to a fun, inspirational and efficient experience, Michelle enables clients to design their own path through a variety of one-hour classes, based on style, intensity and aspiration.

Types of classes offered: Barre, Spin, Yoga, Boot Camp

What makes Fit Girl Studio unique? With two locations - one in Chicago and one in Evanston - Fit Girl Studio takes a revolutionary approach to “fitness”, with a focus on valuing the three F’s: Fusion, Fun, and Family.

  1. Fusion. Fusion is important to provide the most effective cross training methods and offer the body and mind a variety of exciting options.

  2. Fun. Fun is a key factor and though our classes are challenging in more ways than one, they are still really enjoyable.

  3. Family. Last but not least, our community is like family. We treat and support each other as we would treat our sister, mother, aunt, best friend, etc. This goes for both the staff-client and client-client interactions.  I can’t even begin to count the number of lasting friendships that have sprouted out of Fit Girl. That makes us very special.

Advice for first-timers: Be prepared to totally change the way you think about a fitness routine!

Michelle's favorite things to do in Chicago: Kayaking through the city down the Chicago river, taking in the sites above Lincoln Park while sipping a cocktail on the rooftop bar at the J. Parker, and  playing co-ed intramural volleyball on North Avenue Beach in the summer twilight.

Did you know? Owner Michelle is seriously fanatical over mascots!  The Oregon Duck, Benny the Bull, and Florida Gator top her list of faves. When not teaching spin, you can find Felicia’s nose in a book.  But not just any book, she exclusively reads paranormal romance novels. Cassie (barre instructor) is a nationally award-winning radio news reporter.  Elizabeth’s (barre and yoga instructor) family owns and runs a funeral home.  And yes, she has worked there! Liz was IN the movie Contagion.  Looks like a movie career wasn't her calling, as she now teaches spin at Fit Girl! Amanda (lead instructor) craves chocolate cookies first thing in the morning.
