With two studios offering classes for both hot yoga lovers and those who can do without the 105 degree heat, New York Yoga offers a variety of Vinyasa classes everday. These intimate studios have hands-on instructors who are friendly, but who let you go with your own flow once they've helped you improve your form. Whether hitting up regular yoga on 86th and York, or Hot Yoga on 85th and Lexington, you'll leave New York Yoga with a warm yoga glow and a calm yoga mind.

Neighborhood: Yorkville/Upper East Side

Classes Offered: New York Yoga: Vinyasa All Levels, Vinyasa Basics, Gentle Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, 60-Minute Hot Vinyasa, Candlelit Vinyasa, Restorative

New York Yoga – Hot: 60-Minute Hot Vinyasa, 75-Minute Hot Vinyasa, 75-Minute Hot Vinyasa Basics, Work & Flow, 60-Minute Vinyasa Flow, 60-Minute Slow Flow

Why We Love It: Both studios have motivating instructors and friendly staff, keeping us coming back for a blissful yoga burn.

Why It's So Effective: Practicing yoga helps with breathing patterns - both inside and outside of the studio, and ups concentration in day to day life. Both vinyasa yoga and hot yoga help the body produce an intense internal heat, which purifies muscles and organs, expels unwanted toxins and releases beneficial hormones and minerals. These styles of yoga not only tone the body and improve flexibility, but, over time, they improve blood circulation.

Know Before You Go: First timers should arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. Towels and mats are available for rent, and water is available for purchase. Note that only the Hot Studio on 85th Street has shower facilities. Lockers are available to store your personal items during class and you may rent a combination lock in the studio or bring a lock from home.

Don't Miss: The late evening Candlelit Vinyasa classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are a special treat in the middle of busy work weeks. Plus, get yourself geared up with New York Yoga clothing, props, mats, books, CDs and more at the New York Yoga boutique. The boutique is located at the main studio on 86th and York.

Added Bonus: In addition to regularly scheduled classes, workshops with different focuses are offered throughout the year. Check out their list of workshops if you want to dig deeper into areas like the philosophical tradition of yoga, yoga basics or even teacher training.
