Have you ever wished you could just rock out to your favorite tunes and feel like you worked out? If so, DMF by Lindi will likely be one of your most cherished ways to work up a sweat. DMF—Dance Motivational Fitness—is a fun, fast-paced class conceived and taught by the lovely Lindi Duesenberg whose upbeat, positive vibe draws hordes of dance lordes from all corners of NYC. The draw here is similar to any other good party: amazing music and carefree vibe, with sneakers instead of stilettos (and maybe water instead of vodka). And certainly no velvet ropes!

Owner: Lindi Duesenberg

Classes Offered: Dance cardio

Why You Should Check It Out: Because you want to focus on fun more than form! As Lindi always tells newcomers, fun is what this workout is all about. Let loose and smile—if DMF had a theme song, Pharrell’s “Happy” might be it!

What Makes It Such an Effective Workout? DMF relies on the music for its dance moves, so a tune with an African beat will propel the class into Afro-inspired dance moves. Ditto for Latin songs. The combination of dance moves will have you moving every single area of your body at one time or another—from two-step to a sashay to a shimmy.

Know Before You Go: DMF doesn’t have its own studio (yet!) so you will be checking into general dance studios.  See schedule here.

Advice for first-timers: A small towel would be handy! And as always, a bottle of water won’t hurt.

Mini-Playlist: Just to give you a sampling…you’ll hear tunes like:

"We Are One" by Pitbull featuring J. Lo
"Happy" by Pharrell Williams
"Take It To Da House" by Trick Daddy
"Higher Ground" by Red Hot Chilli Peppers
"Take Me Home" by Cash Cash

And be on the lookout for themed pop-up classes.  Recent examples include: Beyoncé versus Britney, Battle of the Boy Bands, Michael versus Janet Jackson and British Invasion.

Private Parties:  Looking for a fun and inspiring break from your standard birthday party? Book DMF to come to you.
