So.Be.Fit

Types of classes offered: BootCamp, Sculpt, Pilates Fusion, Turbo Kick, Piloxing, Yoga, Ballet Barre and Melt (pain therapy) classes, in addition to personal and small group training.  So.Be.Fit has two studio rooms, a "hyper" room in front and a "Zen" room in back.

Laura MinorAbout the Owner: Laura Minor, owner of So.Be.Fit., earned her Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from Indiana University, and also holds the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Personal Training Certification. Laura's dream is to offer a warm, private, and MOTIVATING space for people to move their bodies, express their nutrition/exercise/lifestyle concerns, and to just feel darn good.

What makes So.Be.Fit. unique and why you should try it: Every person at So.Be. works out with a highly qualified and experienced Personal Trainer whether alone or in a group setting. This provides the clients with a well-crafted, safe, and effective workout and they don’t have to think about their workout; they simply come in, and we take out the guesswork! So.Be. is also unique because it is located in the happening and every expanding area of South Broadripple aka “SoBro”. It is a fun, laid-back, and motivating atmosphere where a large majority of the community supports local business. In addition, So.Be. does not use huge fixed angle weight machines. Instead, So.Be.'s “functional” training style encompasses primarily body weight and core exercises accompanied by tools such as bands, medicine balls, kettlebells, ropes, and free weights.

Advice for first-timers: Come in! Once people take a step through the door they are hooked! Our trainers are able to adapt EVERY class so that a TRUE beginner and a seasoned athlete will leave getting a great workout appropriate for their level. We have worked with clients with every injury possible and can easily work around limitations. Our atmosphere is very motivating yet not competitive, with a neighborhood vibe so people feel relaxed and not intimidated.

Laura's favorite things to do in Indianapolis: LOVE local everything in SoBro - locally grown market across the street, Posh Petals, Twenty Tap, Blue Mile (running store), and Patachou are just a few! Running is my passion….Favorite running/hiking spots are Eagle Creek, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Butler University, and the Canal Tow Path.

Did you know? Laura is also a columnist for The Broad Ripple Gazette where she covers health and fitness topics.  Laura's older sister Jenny is one of So.Be.'s head trainers; Jenny, Laura and another one of their trainers have completed dozens of marathons and half marathons, in addition to participating in 200-mile relay races in Oregon and Indiana.

Trainer Vincent competes in cycle cross events and is also a dance choreographer, Karena is also a Massage Therapist and obsessed with Mudathalons and other crazy events, and Keith competes in Strong Man competitions where he partakes in very odd (and hard!) events.

  • Looking for a local MELT class. Have a fractured spine.

  • I heard really good things about this studio from a friend getting her training there. They align their routine with MetroEHS Pediatric Therapy as well. I guess I will fit perfectly there.
