Classes He Teaches: Indoor and Outdoor Mind-Body Boot Camp

Background: Founder of Circuit of Change, Brian Delmonico specializes in martial arts, yoga, meditation and holistic wellness. Having traveled throughout Thailand deepening his yoga practice, Brian’s teaching methods are greatly influenced by his Eastern studies.  Holding his bachelors degree in Exercise Science, Brian's accomplishments include All American-Big Ten Champion Gymnast, Ironman Triathlete, Muay Thai Martial Artist, and his one of a kind Mind-Body Boot Camp.

GETTING TO KNOW BRIAN

What inspired you to become an instructor? I grew up competing in gymnastics. I had a coach that inspired me and motivated me both inside and outside the gym.  He was a major influence on my personal growth and how we should treat others. I wanted to follow and create a similar program for adults using all my disciplines.

What’s your favorite thing about teaching? Watching members sweat through transformation inside and out. Nothing more rewarding for a teacher than to witness a “break through” with a member.

How would you describe your teaching style? Unconventional.  We use fitness as a secondary source to the primary concerns like personal growth and self-realization. Jumping, kicking, punching, and core work will not be enough. We need to go deeper to get the “real work” accomplished.

If you weren’t a fitness instructor, what would you do? Be a teacher in another field. Any other field as long as I’m connecting with students on the disciplines I am passionate about.

How do you like spending your time when you're not teaching? Reading, writing, bike riding and yoga are my go to’s.

What’s your “go-to” workout song?  Pata Pata

What do you eat/not eat? I am vegan. I eat lots of greens and I juice every morning.

What’s your guilty pleasure? Vegan ice cream. Still not very good for you. :-)

FOR THE STUDENTS

For someone who is new to taking fitness classes, why do you recommend them? Fun, exciting, and transformational!

The exercise move everyone should master: The ‘transitions’, rolling to your back, dropping to your belly, down dog then jump to your feet.

If you could give GoRecess users one piece of fitness advice what would it be? Hold yourself accountable. You can’t attend classes once a week or every other week. It has to be a part of your everyday lifestyle.
