FitReserve Studio Spotlight: Asphalt Green

05.26.2016

Helping New Yorkers live a healthy lifestyle is what it’s all about at Asphalt Green, a nonprofit organization with campuses in the Upper East Side and Battery Park City. Whether you’re swimming laps in each location’s pool, discovering a new class like AntiGravity Yoga, or sweating it out in a boot camp, Asphalt Green’s classes will help you work your way to fitness. As a community-focused organization, Asphalt Green also delivers free and low-cost programs to almost 33,000 children each year, and provides scholarships to individuals with financial need.

Neighborhoods: Upper East Side, Battery Park City

Classes Offered: Yoga, Pilates, Nia, BODYPUMP, Spinning®, Zumba, Boot Camp, Open Lap Swim, Barre, Kickboxing, Tai Chi, Urban Rebounding and more.

Why We Love It: No matter what your favorite fitness activity may be, Asphalt Green has a class to fit it. Love swimming? Dive in or an open lap swim. More of a yogi? There are classes that let you downward dog at all levels. Want to push your body to the extreme? Try a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class, like Tabata Circuit or Circuit City.

Why It's So Effective: Taking a variety of classes at Asphalt Green will help you avoid fitness plateau. Change it up to burn more calories and work different muscle groups each time you work out.

Know Before You Go: Arrive at least five minutes before class to secure your spot, and make sure to have a government-issued ID. Small towels are available for workout classes. Swimmers: always wear a swim cap in the pool.

Don't Miss: Rise and shine for Sunrise Yoga, which will improve your flexibility, balance, and posture before the day even begins. Sunrise Yoga is currently offered Thursday mornings at 6:30 AM at the Battery Park City location.

Added Bonus: Asphalt Green is focused on holistic health, and offers bonus programs to help you reach your healthiest self. Grab a massage to help your muscles recover from workouts at the Upper East Side campus, or prepare yourself with first aid certification at the Battery Park City campus.

  • I also want to do Yoga, but I have no partner, so I'm often lazy.
